Scoring highest for ‘Conversational Search,’ ‘B2C Search’ (tied for rank #1), and ‘Multisite and Globalization,’ Constructor is the only vendor to be ranked first in 3 out of 5 Use Cases
SAN FRANCISCO, July 15, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — Constructor, the leading AI-powered search and product discovery platform for enterprise ecommerce companies, has been recognized in the Gartner® Critical Capabilities for Search and Product Discovery report.1
In this research, Gartner evaluated 15 vendors across five critical Use Cases, with Constructor ranking #1 in three — “Conversational Search,” “B2C Search” (tied for #1 with another vendor), and “Multisite and Globalization.” Constructor is the only vendor to score highest in three out of five Use Cases.
According to Gartner, critical capabilities “are attributes that differentiate products/services in a class in terms of their quality and performance. Gartner recommends that users consider the set of critical capabilities as some of the most important criteria for [purchase] decisions.”
The Critical Capabilities report serves as a companion to the Gartner Magic Quadrant™ for Search and Product Discovery2 — where Constructor was recently named a Leader.
How Constructor is ranked
In its Critical Capabilities report, Gartner defines search and product discovery (S&PD) solutions as “applications that augment digital commerce solutions to facilitate navigation, filtering, comparisons and, ultimately, selection of products.” It notes that S&PD “has evolved significantly since GenAI, and related AI technologies have emerged over the last years in digital commerce.”
Constructor was evaluated for its AI-based platform, purpose-built for ecommerce. It scored above a 4 out of 5 in all five Use Cases evaluated, including:
4.39 in Conversational Search
4.31 in Multisite and Globalization
4.24 in B2C Search
According to the Gartner methodology, a score of 4 denotes “excellent: meets or exceeds some requirements.”
Innovation in action
“We believe Constructor’s #1 rankings in the Gartner Critical Capabilities report reflect our deep, continued investments in AI innovation — not just as a feature, but as the foundation of our platform,” said Eli Finkelshteyn, Constructor CEO and co-founder. “We’re proud that we saw and capitalized on the opportunities in AI for commerce early, before everyone jumped on the bandwagon. Our customers have been able to leverage that head start, in terms of both the quality of the results we deliver for them and in the AI-aided merchandising capabilities we give them access to. We are, and always will be, focused on making sure that Constructor drives more revenue for our customers than any other platform, and that our customers have access to the best cutting-edge tools sooner than anyone else.”
Below are examples of Constructor’s innovation in the following Use Cases:
Conversational Search — Constructor’s award-winning AI Shopping Agent (ASA), used by retailers around the world, enables natural, human-like search experiences on ecommerce sites. Shoppers can ask full-sentence questions (e.g., “I’m headed to a beach wedding in Jamaica next month. What should I wear?”) and get results that make sense, are in-stock, and are personalized to them. Retailers using ASA have reported a 10% increase in website revenue, 6% increase in search conversions, 7% increase in clicks and more — with one home and décor brand seeing a 206% higher add-to-cart rate and 232% increase in revenue from shoppers using ASA on product detail pages.
B2C Search — Built from the ground up as an AI-native platform, Constructor takes a fundamentally different approach to B2C search than vendors with hybrid or bolted-on AI. Its architecture enables real-time personalization at the individual level using clickstream behavioral signals. Features like intelligent autosuggest and advanced natural language processing (NLP) further help shoppers search for — and find — products they want to buy. And with shoppers who use search generating nearly half of online revenue, search isn’t just a feature; it’s a growth lever. In every A/B test where a retailer has compared Constructor’s search against another solution, Constructor has outperformed — driving stronger results across key ecommerce KPIs, including conversions, revenue per visit, and cart size.
Multisite and Globalization — Constructor helps retailers scale product discovery across geographies, languages, and multiple brands or storefronts. The platform handles massive catalogs with millions of SKUs, delivering fast, personalized experiences. And with GenAI-powered translation, shoppers can search in any language and get accurate, attractive results, even if retailers’ product data isn’t in that language. Last year alone, Constructor powered 250 billion shopper interactions — about 8,000 personalized experiences every second.
Driving S&PD transformation: From relevance to attractiveness
In its Critical Capabilities report, Gartner further notes that “in digital commerce, keyword search was traditionally used to find products, and the onus was on the business users to figure out the right configurations to get the ideal reverence match.”
Constructor’s technology raises the bar, helping companies move beyond relevance — a primary metric for keyword search success — to attractiveness. That is, rather than serve up merely relevant results (showing shirts for a “shirts” search), Constructor delivers attractive ones (shirts in the brand, style, price point, colors, etc. that the shopper wants to buy).
It’s why Forbes recently observed in “Beyond Relevance: The Value of Attractiveness in Ecommerce Search” that “Constructor is leading the charge in redefining ecommerce search and product discovery.”
Constructor’s AI personalizes and optimizes the shopper journey: across search, browse, product recommendations, landing pages, product finder quizzes, AI Shopping Agents, on-site retail media ads, and more.
