2 popular grocery stores are coming to these Arizona cities. Here’s what we know

West Valley shoppers will soon have two more options for their future grocery shopping trips.

ALDI will open a new store Surprise this week, and Trader Joe’s is also building a store in Goodyear. The two grocery store companies both have a significant cult following for their discounts and store brand products.

The two beloved grocery brands join a slate of major retailers, like Target, Lowe’s and IKEA, expanding their footprint in the Grand Canyon State. These openings also come as other retailers have shuttered stores across the United States, including Kroger, At Home and Nordstrom.

Here’s what Arizona shoppers need to know about the new grocery stores, including where they will and when they may open.

Trader Joe’s opening new Arizona store

Trader Joe’s website has 16 stores listed as “coming soon”, including a much-anticipated downtown Goodyear location.

Trader Joe’s will open a 13,500-square-foot location at North Bullard Avenue and McDowell Road. RED Development officials said they did not have details available about when the store might open.

The grocery store will be in a shopping center with Black Rock Coffee Bar and Firebirds Wood Fired Grill, both of which were scheduled to open in 2026.

There are 18 Trader Joe’s stores in Arizona, not counting the new locations.

Aldi opening new Arizona grocery store soon

Popular discount grocer ALDI is opening more than 30 new U.S. stores, including a new Arizona’s location this month, according to ALDI’s website.

The new Surprise location located at 13723 W. Bell Road was set to open on Thursday, July 24. To celebrate the grand opening, there will be a ribbon cutting at 8 a.m., free tote bags and goodies, and a chance to win giftcards, according to the website. If you just can’t wait, you can shop the store early on July 23.

If you’re not near the new store, ALDI has 12 other locations in Arizona to shop.
