HOUSTON, July 24, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — The Dr. Andrew Gomes Scholarship for Veterans officially opens its application cycle, inviting eligible U.S. military veterans currently enrolled in undergraduate programs across the nation to apply for this impactful academic opportunity.
With over 15 years of clinical, research, and entrepreneurial experience, Dr. Andrew Gomes has earned national recognition in the field of radiology, particularly for his work in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and traumatic brain injury diagnosis through advanced imaging modalities such as Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI) and Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI). The Dr. Andrew Gomes Scholarship for Veterans is available to any U.S. military veteran—regardless of branch, including Reserves and National Guard—who is currently pursuing an undergraduate degree at an accredited U.S. college or university. The scholarship selection process places emphasis on originality, clarity, and personal insight, with applicants required to submit a 500–750 word essay in response to the following prompt:
“How has your experience in the military shaped your personal values, academic goals, and vision for your future? In what ways do you hope to lead, serve, or create impact in your next chapter?”
This initiative reflects Dr. Andrew Gomes’ belief in the enduring influence of military service on personal growth and leadership potential.
Applicants must submit a completed application, including their original essay, by March 15, 2026. The winner will be publicly announced on April 15, 2026, through the official scholarship website. The award is intended to help veterans offset tuition or other educational expenses and can be used at any accredited undergraduate institution in the United States. There are no geographic limitations—students from all states are welcome to apply.
Dr. Andrew Gomes notes that this scholarship is a way to give back to those who have given so much. “Veterans possess a unique lens through which they approach learning and leadership,” says Dr. Andrew Gomes. “This scholarship aims to support their next chapter, just as they’ve supported our nation.”
