After a standout 2024 season, capturing championships in both the POWRi and Xtreme Outlaw Midget series, Cannon McIntosh returns in 2025 with unfinished business and a clear target: more wins — including a USAC® title.
Now in his seventh year with Toyota Racing Development (TRD), McIntosh is continuing his partnership with Keith Kunz Motorsports behind the wheel of the No. 71 Mobil 1® TRD Toyota.
Last season, the 22-year-old’s career reached new heights with a career-defining victory at the BC39® at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, where he executed a thrilling last-lap pass to take the checkered flag.
“Winning that race the way it happened was unbelievable,” says McIntosh.
Control and Confidence
McIntosh’s path to racing began early. Inspired by his father, a former micro sprint racer, he got behind the wheel at seven years of age and never looked back. Since then, his experience through the Toyota Driver Development (TD2) program has helped shape his development, both on and off the track.
“It’s been a great journey,” he says. “The people at TD2 have played a big role in helping me become the driver I am today.”
McIntosh is known for his confident control and adaptability on the track. At I-55 Raceway in 2024, he made quick work of competitors using the high line, carrying momentum off corners and surging to the lead. At Atomic Speedway, he led flag to flag with what he called “great balance and great speed,” contributing to a near-perfect drive.
Whether he’s attacking corners at his favorite track, Eldora Speedway, or chasing down championship points, McIntosh brings the same determination that’s made him a rising star in dirt racing.
All in for 2025
In 2024, he scored six feature wins and 15 podium finishes in the Xtreme Outlaw Midget Series, along with 20 top-five results, ultimately securing the championship. The win came on the heels of another title run in POWRi, marking his most dominant season yet. Despite his 2024 successes, McIntosh remains hungry.
“Winning a championship and just barely coming up short in another helped me learn a lot,” he says. “I now know what it takes to win one —and lose one.”
That lesson fuels McIntosh’s approach for 2025. With daily physical training and a renewed focus on mental strategy, he’s aiming to win as many races as possible — and cap it off with the championship. Winning the USAC® Championship would complete McIntosh’s “triple crown” of midget titles.
As the 2025 season unfolds, one thing’s clear: Cannon McIntosh is all in.
