“The Most Unknown World Record Holder in the History of Running” Finishes 9th Run Across America at Age 77

SAYREVILLE, N.J., Aug. 12, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — On Wednesday, August 13, 2025 at 6:00PM, an extraordinary chapter in ultrarunning history will come to a close as 77-year-old Swedish runner Björn Suneson touches the Atlantic Ocean at Sadowski Parkway Waterfront Park in Sayreville, New Jersey — completing his ninth run across the United States.

Averaging 35 miles a day from coast to coast, Björn is quietly building a legacy that few in the world of endurance sports can match — and almost no one knows about it.

Two Swedish filmmakers — Waldemar Hansson and Nils Fridén, in conjunction with Desert Lore Productions — have spent the past several months following Björn’s journey and are the only people who have joined him on the road for short periods of time. Björn prefers to run on his own, a solo journey to discover the landscapes and people of America again and again.

“He’s not in it for the glory or the headlines,” says Waldemar. “Björn just runs. He wakes up every day and does what he loves — often alone, often unnoticed. But to us, and hopefully soon to the world, he’s a living legend.”

The team invites press, runners, and curious spectators to witness Björn’s final steps as he completes a nearly 3,000-mile journey — and, perhaps, earns long-overdue recognition as one of the most remarkable endurance athletes alive. We are happy to set up interviews with Björn or help coordinate coverage on-site in New Jersey.
