WASHINGTON, Aug. 25, 2025 /PRNewswire/ — AARP, the nation’s largest nonprofit dedicated to empowering people 50 and older to choose how they live as they age, has named Anna E. Banks as Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, signaling a bold step forward in brand transformation, digital innovation, and member engagement.
Banks is a seasoned marketing executive with three decades of experience driving growth for global consumer brands. She joins AARP from Sephora North America, where she served as Senior Vice President. At Sephora, Banks led digital transformation and personalization initiatives and spearheaded brand and performance marketing efforts that generated over $1.5B in annual revenue. Her appointment underscores AARP’s commitment to reshaping the narrative around aging and amplifying its role as the leading voice for more than 120 million Americans aged 50+.
In her new role, Banks will lead AARP’s Marketing, Brand and Content (MBC) organization, which encompasses brand strategy, integrated communications, membership lifecycle, experience design, customer care and editorial. She will helm the organization’s flagship publications—AARP The Magazine and AARP Bulletin—the most-read print titles in the country.
“Anna’s ability to fuse purpose with performance makes her the ideal choice to elevate AARP’s marketing efforts and elevate the brand at a time when the voice of Americans over 50 has never been more vital,” said AARP CEO Dr. Myechia Minter-Jordan. “Driven by a commitment to consumer engagement, her track record of building high-impact teams and forging strategic partnerships will be instrumental as we continue to evolve.”
Banks brings an extraordinary blend of corporate savvy and mission-driven passion to the role. “I’m excited to join AARP and its powerful legacy of advocacy and storytelling,” said Banks. “This is a unique opportunity to build on the organization’s digital transformation momentum by embracing emerging technologies to deliver value and deepen engagement with members.”
Prior to her tenure at Sephora, Banks served as Chief Marketing Officer for Fair Trade USA, where she led brand transformation across consumer, donor, and advocacy audiences. She has held senior marketing roles at Walmart Global eCommerce as well as digital strategy and innovation leadership roles at McCann Worldgroup.
Banks’ commitment to mission-driven work extends beyond her professional roles. She has served on the boards of the Museum of the African Diaspora and Katherine Delmar Burke School, and is an investor and mentor with Pipeline Angels, a network of women investors focused on supporting social entrepreneurs. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Harvard and Radcliffe Colleges and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
