Madrid, September 1, 2025. The tourism market continues with good rhythm and achieves 61,315 new registrations in August, 17.2% as the same month last year. Despite the summer and vacation period, sales have been placed again in positive figures, marked mainly by the good behavior of the electrified tourism market, which has meant the quarter of the total sales. With the records of August, in what we have been in the year, 769,452 new cars, 14.6% better than last year, but still 12.9% lower than 2019 have already registered, a period prior to the pandemic.

Regarding the sales of electrified cars (BEV+PHEV), 14,939 new units are registered, with an increase of 162% in August, representing 24.4% of the market in the month. In the total of the year, 138,254 units sold, 98% more than the previous year accumulate. In this year they already represent 17.97% of the market, about 8 percentage points more than in 2024.

The average CO2 emissions of the cars sold in August fall to 97.8 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled, 16.7% lower than the average emissions of new cars sold in the same month of 2024, allowing to be placed for the first time in a month below the 100 grams of CO2 per kilometer traveled. In the accumulated of 2025, the average emissions are 106%, 10% less than in the same period of 2024.

In channel sales, both companies and individuals grow 22% and 16.1%, respectively, in the month. For its part, the market aimed at rentals is reduced by 13.7%, with 1,718 units, because Rent-A-Car companies had already been provided with vehicles for the August holiday period.

Light commercial vehicles

Light commercial vehicles enrollments increase 19.1% in August, with 10,660 units. In the total of the year, a total of 123,081 sales, an increase of 12.6%is added. Regarding channel sales, notable growth is achieved in each of them. It highlights the case of rentals, which increases by 120.5%, with 1,605 units. While self -employed and companies grow 9.3% and 10.4%, respectively.


Industrialists and bus

In August, the registrations of industrial vehicles, buses, coaches and microbuses manage to recover slightly, with an increase of 0.8% and 1,792 units sold. Despite this, in the total of the year, the fall is at 11.2%, with 20,644 sales. By type of vehicles, it is the industrialists who push sales with an improvement of 2.6% and 1,667 registrations. For their part, buses record a decrease of 18.3% and 125 sales.
