AVILA, 7 May (EUROPA PRESS) –

The Japanese automotive brand Nissan will transform its plant in Ávila with the construction of two new facilities, in which it will invest close to 40 million euros in concept of “fixed costs”.

As reported by the company in the presentation of the plan on Monday, will be built two new buildings, dedicated to logistics and the stamping of parts for the entire Alliance Renault-Nissan-Mitsubishi, which will have a total area of more than 100,000 square meters.

For its part, the Government of Castile and Leon will be responsible for investing nearly 50 million euros in the construction of these buildings, which will be used by the car company on a rental basis.

“The Nissan factory in Ávila will be the only center for the manufacture and distribution of spare parts for Renaul, Nissan and Mitsubishi in Europe, with the aim of contributing to the satisfaction of our customers”, assured the vice president of the alliance for Europe, Eurasia, Latin America, Middle East and India, José Vicente de los Mozos.

The new stamping plant, which will be attached to the company’s current facilities, will produce parts for all the company’s brands. Its manufacturing process will be divided into four phases: mechanical stamping, welding of components, painting and packaging.

The new facilities, which will start their activity from April 2020, will have the capacity to produce up to 80,000 spare parts per month, according to De los Mozos.

“This new business plan for Ávila 2020 will transform this factory into a new single center for manufacturing and distributing spare parts for the alliance for Europe,” stressed the Vice President of the Government, Soraya Sáenz de Santamaría.

For its part, the second ship will be dedicated to the logistics activity and in it the pieces will be stored and distributed throughout Europe.

The new facilities will integrate Ávila into the Castilla y León Industrial Pole of the alliance and will prevent the factory from closing after the production of the NT-400 truck ceased in September 2019. Thus, “before” 2024 will employ between 470 and 480 people.

“The happy realization of this industrial plan will once again highlight how in this land when we work together there is no challenge that we can not carry out,” said the president of the Junta de Castilla y León, Juan Vicente Herrera, who has thanked to the workers their involvement in the plan.
