Michael Riseberg has more than 30 years of experience as a civil litigator and trial attorney. His litigation work involves high-profile cases across state and federal courts, including before the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court, the Massachusetts Appeals Court, and the U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit. Specifically, he focuses his practice on the defense of catastrophic personal injury and wrongful death cases, the defense of legal malpractice claims, and insurance coverage and extra-contractual insurance disputes.

He also helps U.S. lawyers and their clients obtain evidence abroad that is needed to win their U.S. cases. He is an accomplished arbitrator and member of the American Arbitration Association’s commercial and consumer panels.
Folkman founded the well-known blog, Letters Blogatory, which was recognized by the ABA as one of the best on the web and is believed to be the first blog specifically focused on international judicial assistance. He has been named a “Top Commercial Litigation Lawyer” by Boston Magazine (2023-2024) and a “2024 Go To Business Litigation Lawyer” by Massachusetts Lawyers Weekly.
