This groundbreaking immersive environment was designed to spark creativity, encourage physical activity, and promote wellness for children and their families. The ribbon-cutting featured remarks from community and organizational leaders including Katie Ferrier (VP of Public Policy, Economic Development & Sr. Policy Advisor at the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce), Louis Lopez (President & CEO of YMCA of Greater San Antonio), Meredith Doby (Officer of The DoSeum), Theresa Scepanski (President & CEO of Community First Health Plans), Brad McDonald (Chief Volunteer Officer of YMCA of Greater San Antonio), Zach Bamba (Field Representative of the Office of Congressman Tony Gonzales, TX-23), and Nancy Reyna (Director of Community Outreach of the Office of District 6 Councilman Ric Galvan).
“When we announced IMAGINATION STATION, we promised a space where creativity, movement, and imagination would come together to support children’s growth and well-being,” said Louis Lopez, President & CEO of the YMCA of Greater San Antonio. “What makes this moment even more meaningful is that it launches us into an exciting year ahead—as the YMCA of Greater San Antonio prepares to celebrate 150 years of serving our community in 2026. This project reflects the heart of who we are —evolving to meet the needs of children and families, just as we have for nearly a century and a half.”
The celebration included a ribbon-cutting ceremony, recognition presentations from local officials and community partners, and the first opportunity for children and families to explore the newly unveiled space. Highlights of the installation include interactive zones for creative expression, active play, and wellness exploration—all designed with input from local youth and families to ensure an engaging, meaningful experience.
Theresa Scepanski, President & CEO of Community First Health Plans, emphasized the importance of this investment in San Antonio’s future: “We’re proud to support this project as both a donor and community supporter. IMAGINATION STATION is a perfect example of what happens when great organizations come together with a shared purpose. We’re grateful to the YMCA and The DoSeum for their vision and partnership. Together, they’ve created something truly special—a space that will benefit families across our city for years to come.”
“We’re excited about this new addition and what it will mean for families in this community,” said Nancy Reyna, Director of Community Outreach of the Office of District 6 Councilman Ric Galvan. Echoing the sentiment, Zach Bamba, Field Representative of the Office of Congressman Tony Gonzales, TX-23 stated, “I am so happy that children in our community get to experience friendships and relationships thanks to the YMCA.”
The event also marks a milestone on the road to the YMCA of Greater San Antonio’s 150th Anniversary in 2026, underscoring the organization’s legacy of strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility.
