Aston Martin reintroduced the Lagonda brand back in 2014, and it went to work making the $1 million Taraf sedan. Now it’s getting ready to unveil its first true production model, an SUV with a battery-electric drivetrain. As we previously reported, the entire Lagonda lineup will be battery-electric.

The new model will debut in 2021, and it will take after the design of the Aston Martin Lagonda Vision concept shown earlier this year. In a new teaser image, we can see an SUV with a low-slung roof and a rear that comes to a point, two design features reminiscent of the concept.

“The Lagonda SUV is the first of its kind: a spacious, high-performance 4×4 that successfully reconciles a love of technology, luxury and style,” said Aston Martin President and CEO Andy Palmer in a statement.

Aston Martin isn’t providing many more details, so all we can imagine is what we see on the concept. This vehicle featured a set of electric motors and solid-state batteries, and the goal was to provide 400 miles of range on a single charge. The concept also featured a posh, spacious interior with four seats. The production Lagonda SUV’s arrival date is somewhat surprising, as the automaker told us in an interview earlier this year at the Geneva Motor Show that the vehicle would arrive in 2023, following a Lagonda sedan in 2022. Given how popular SUVs have become, perhaps Aston decided to move up the timing for the model that is likely to be Lagonda’s bread and butter.

Meanwhile, Aston Martin is set to introduce its own SUV. The last we heard, this non-EV is expected to go on sale in 2019.
