For Toyota driver Kiko Porto, there is only one goal when it comes to racing: winning.
The Brazil native has been hooked on go-karting since he tried the sport at 8.
“It was pure curiosity that quickly became my life,” he says of racing. “I just feel that I was always into cars, and after trying for the first time, I got addicted to that feeling.”
That adrenaline rush has continued to fuel his path. As one of the newest drivers in the Toyota Driver Development program, joining RAFA Racing in IMSA, Porto is one to watch.
He has secured victories and pole positions throughout his North America motorsports career, including being a past USF2000 series champion and USF Pro 2000 runner-up.
Head in the Game
While he’s had some wins under his belt, Porto doesn’t believe that speed is the only factor in becoming a true winner. “A champion is not the one who is faster, it is the one who deserves more,” he says.
He credits meditation for giving him clarity, which in turn gives him the focus he needs to be successful on and off the track.
“Mentally, meditation has been a great tool that helps me be my best version inside and outside of the car,” he says.
For the physical part of gearing up for a race, it’s all about moderation.
“For the preparation, the limit is what your body can handle without compromising itself,” he adds.

In Good Company
Beyond his mental and physical readiness, Porto attributes his success to the Toyota Driver Development (TD2).
“Being part of the TD2 program has just helped me to be my best version in all aspects of life,” he says. “Physically, I feel more ready, mentally the same, and being around very high-level people pushes me to be better every day.”
The proud racer is optimistic about his partnership with Toyota
“I grew up on the open wheel pathway, with the goal to get to IndyCar, but got addicted to sports cars racing as soon as I tried for the first time,” Porto says. “Now, my dream is to grow with Toyota to the highest levels of racing around the world.”
