The average price of second-hand vehicle (VO) in Spain stood at 14,793 euros in April, which represents a 5.7% increase compared to the same month of 2017, according to data from Coches.net, which ensures that the cost of these cars has grown in most of the autonomous communities, except in Asturias and Navarra.

By regions, the Autonomous Communities where the average price of the used vehicle increased the most were La Rioja, 22.4% more, Extremadura, 14.2% more, and Castilla y León, 11.6% more. By contrast, in Asturias the price fell by 2.4%, while in Navarra the decline was 1.7%.

In addition, Coches.net notes that Castilla y León was located in April as the most expensive community for the purchase of a second-hand vehicle, with an average price of 16,046 euros, followed by Galicia, with 15,828 euros, and Catalonia, with 15,808 euros. . By contrast, Extremadura was in April the community with an average price of the second-hand car, with 11,996 euros, followed by Cantabria, with 13,051 euros, and Castilla-La Mancha, with 13,276 euros.

For its part, the portal notes that, according to data from the Institute of Automotive Studies (IEA), sold in Spain in April a total of 188,889 used cars, 8.5% more than in the same month of last year.

TWO THIRDS OF THE SALES, DIESEL

April sales were also led by diesel models, with 65.1% of the total, up to 122,909 units, followed by gasoline vehicles, 34.1%, and hybrids and electric vehicles, which represented 0.8% of the total of second-hand vehicles marketed.

Last month, sales of cars less than five years old represented 30.2% of the total, with more than 57,000 units, while models of more than five years “took over the market”, representing 69.8. % of the total.

In addition, the signature indicates that the “best-selling” of the month of April were the Renault Mégane, the Seat Ibiza, the Volkswagen Golf, the Ford Focus and the Seat León, the same models as the previous month.

As explained by Coches.net, in terms of supply, the majority of second-hand vehicles were cars with more than 40,000 kilometers, with 69.9% of the total, being those with more than 100,000 kilometers the ones with the most offer, a 46.3%. However, the portal highlights that the number of cars offered with less than 20,000 kilometers represented 21.3% of the total, “the highest percentage of the last two years.”

As for the age of the models, cars with more than six years accounted for 50.4% of the total offer, while those under five years accounted for 49.6% of the total. Among the latter, the “most representative” age range is between one and three years, since they represent 30.1% of the total.

If we take into account the offer by type of fuel, most vehicles are diesel, with 71% of the total, ahead of gasoline engines, with 28% of the total, and electric and hybrid, with 1% , percentages “very similar” to those registered during the month of March.
