Gaydon, UK – 25 November 2025: JLR’s charitable foundation, the JLR Foundation, has today announced it has awarded its first grants to selected charities aligned with its mission to empower children and young people to reach their full potential.
Established earlier this year, the JLR Foundation aims to provide underserved young people with the opportunity to thrive in school, in their communities and their careers. Through its charity partners, the JLR Foundation will address the inequalities and barriers that often lead to young people disengaging from education and failing to secure employment. Alongside strategic grant funding, the JLR Foundation will leverage JLR’s workforce and employer insights to support its charity partners and the young people they serve.
In the UK, latest Office for National Statistics figures show nearly one million 16‑ to 24‑year‑olds are classed as not in education, employment or training (NEET), with lack of skills, experience or training being a major barrier.
JLR employs thousands of people at its Halewood, Solihull, Castle Bromwich and Wolverhampton sites in the West Midlands and North‑West regions, where rates of young people with NEET status are higher than average at almost 15%1.
Four charities have been chosen by the JLR Foundation to receive grants to expand the important work they are doing to help tackle key issues in these communities:
Right To Succeed uses collective community action to transform children’s life chances in the top 10% most deprived communities in England. The JLR Foundation will support two communities close to JLR’s Halewood and Castle Bromwich sites.
Onside Youth Zones provides young people with access to inspiring spaces, confidence building activities and exceptional youth workers. The partnership with the JLR Foundation includes specific support to The Way Youth Zone in Wolverhampton.
DFN Project SEARCH supports young adults with learning disabilities to secure employment through an innovative model of employer‑based supported internships in the West Midlands, Liverpool City Region and beyond.
Get Further provides small‑group tuition supporting students from disadvantaged backgrounds to pass gateway English and maths qualifications, unlocking access to further study, training, and employment.
We are proud to partner with four exceptional charities who are already delivering real change for young people in JLR communities. These partnerships reflect our commitment to learning, collaboration and long‑term impact. Together, we will help tackle key issues that hold back their life chances, helping to unlock potential and build brighter futures.
Laura Brown
JLR Foundation Director
JLR has committed to making an annual donation to the JLR Foundation, which will be used to award grants to charitable organisations like these, helping to address real needs for disadvantaged children and young people.
JLR has had a strong presence in these communities for decades, providing skilled jobs and apprenticeships, supporting local businesses, and giving back through educational outreach, employee volunteering and donations to local charities.
The JLR Foundation enables us to broaden our impact and go deeper, by providing these remarkable charities with the funds they need to grow so they can change more young people’s lives.
Andrea Debbane
Chief Sustainability Officer, JLR
LR employees will also be able to support the JLR Foundation and its charity partners through volunteering and fund‑raising opportunities. JLR employees committed over 34,000 volunteering hours in the UK in 2024 and raise hundreds of thousands of pounds for local charities every year.
