STATEMENTS
José López-Tafall, general director of ANFAC, indicated that “2025 has been a historic year for the sale of electrified passenger cars, exceeding 225,000 units, something unthinkable a few years ago. But at the same time, we have also surpassed another historical level, which is having sold more than 100,000 electric passenger cars in a single year.”
In relation to 2026, the general director hopes that “Spain will continue to advance in low- and zero-emission mobility. This is what we have expressed in the Spain Auto 2030 Plan, which is nothing more than a roadmap to increase sales of electrified vehicles while strengthening the competitiveness of the Spanish automotive industry, which continues to be the second largest European manufacturer and the ninth largest in the world. The Plan enhances flexibility and aims to be a vehicle for attracting investments to our country to continue strengthening the transformation of our plants towards the manufacture of plug-in vehicles; at the same time, the components industry is accompanied by both state and regional public collaboration in said transformation.”
López-Tafall also hopes that “on the demand side, the extension of the 15% deduction of up to 3,000 euros in personal income tax for the purchase of an electric vehicle, together with the aid provided by the Auto + Plan that the Ministry of Industry is finalizing for this year, will boost sales of vehicles with a plug to increase sales and bring us closer to the market shares in Europe, which are still higher than those of our market. We are left with the debt, the “promotion of the electrification of road transport: industrial vehicles have not received decarbonization aid since April 2024, which is making a dent in the electrification of a key sector for the Spanish economy”
