“The Pension Commission must show ways in which the statutory pension remains stable and strong in the long term – beyond 2031.
The signals so far regarding the commission’s mission and goal are sobering: instead of strengthening pensions, austerity plans, cuts and debates about a higher retirement age dominate.
The younger generations in particular must be able to rely on a good statutory pension. Anyone who calls for a falling pension level puts a burden on younger people: they would have to close pension gaps alone and at great expense privately.
The statutory pension is the central basis of old-age security. We will resolutely oppose attempts to weaken this foundation.
The pension commission must not become a cuts commission.”
