Electric HGV charging hub for Magna Park

A new electric heavy goods vehicle charging hub to support the electrification of freight transport in the UK, is due to open later this year at Magna Park in Lutterworth.

Guardian Smart Infrastructure Management will build, own, and operate the facility in partnership with Keoma Hubs, and the facility is set to open in September 2026.

The first phase of the project will see 32 MCS ready chargers, delivering up to 400kw per charge point, serving 179 HGV bays with pull-in bay design suitable for articulated vehicles.

Also, the site will be TAPA 2-certified, which means it will meet detailed standards regarding physical security, staff training and access control.

In addition, it will be digitally enabled with Bosch Road Services booking systems providing seamless operations and access control, combined with automated hospitality services from BK World.

Magna Park has more than 13 million square feet of floor space across 50 buildings, occupied by a wide range of companies with advanced sustainability credentials.

Bruce Topley, Managing Director, at Marq Logistics, which manages Magna Park said: “Adding high-quality charging infrastructure at Magna Park Lutterworth supports our customers as they plan for the transition to electric freight.

“This partnership strengthens the park’s proposition as a leading logistics location, while helping operators adopt new vehicle technology with confidence.”
