Interdan Bil A/S appointed as importer partner in Denmark and Sweden
More agility and flexibility in the markets will foster growth of Opel
Important milestone of PACE! plan

Rüsselsheim.  Opel has taken a further step in the execution of its strategic plan PACE!, which has been developed to restore financial fundamentals and enhance sustainable competiveness and growth. The company will develop its business model in Sweden and Denmark further and run the business through the highly recognised and Denmark-based independent partner Interdan Bil A/S. A respective contract has now been signed. The company will acquire the National Sales Organisations of Opel in these two countries. Upon the transfer of ownership of the companies to the importer, the staff of Opel Sweden and Opel Denmark will be employed by the current company under the new ownership. This transaction (and the launch of the new business model) is subject to the official approval of the respective competition authorities and is expected to take place in the second half of 2018.

“Agility and flexibility are key to success. With our new partner Interdan Bil A/S who holds an extremely strong position in Denmark and Sweden, we are confident that the Opel brand will be able to even perform stronger in these important markets,” said Peter Küspert, Managing Director Sales & Marketing of Opel Automobile GmbH. “At the same time, we create the necessary preconditions for further improvements of our cost structure.”

Interdan Bil A/S was founded in 1930 and has been a partner in Denmark for Peugeot since 1952 and for Citroen/DS since 2016. Since 1998, the company is also responsible for the sales of Peugeot in Sweden within the current setup. With more than 55,000 sold cars in 2017, the company is one of the largest importers of cars and commercial vehicles in Scandinavia.

“We look forward to welcoming Opel to the Interdan family, and to adding another strong brand to our portfolio,” said Kenneth Hansen, CEO of Interdan Bil A/S. “With two highly committed teams joining forces and our proven business model, we will be able to continue the success and support the growth of Opel in Denmark and Sweden. The Opel brand is in a rapid development, and we look forward to contributing to this journey and bringing exciting cars to our customers.”

In 2017, Opel sold more than 15,000 vehicles in Denmark and almost 9,000 in Sweden.
