Audi saved more than 140 million euros in 2017 thanks to the ideas of its employees

The German automotive company Audi recorded savings of almost 142 million euros during the past year, thanks to the ideas of savings and improvement presented by the company’s employees, through the initiative Audi Ideas Program.

Of this total savings, 108.6 million euros were obtained in the German centers of Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, thanks to the contribution of the workers, while in Györ (Hungary) and Brussels the figure rose to about 33 million of euros, with the proposals of more than 10,100 employees.

The signing of the four rings underlined that, during the past year, it accepted and implemented about 15,000 suggestions for improvements by its employees in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm, which allowed it to save almost 110 million euros, a 23 , 4% more than in 2016.

Audi stressed the importance of implementing improvements in its processes and noted that it has experts from different departments who examine the proposals made by employees and, if accepted, are implemented.

The automobile corporation stressed that, in case the proposed ideas are finally carried out, workers receive a bonus for their contribution, which varies depending on the savings it generates.

The chairman of the Audi works council, Klaus Mittermaier, said that the workforce is what makes the long-term success of the brand possible, so he stressed the relevance of the Audi Ideas Program.

The firm based in Ingolstadt recalled that it has a program of suggestions from employees for 50 years, although the Audi Ideas Program was implemented in 1994, although it has been extended to other plants of the firm in Europe.
