MADRID, May 24 (EUROPA PRESS) –

Volvo will expand the production of the XC40 at its plants in Ghent, Belgium, and Luqiao, in China, from the first half of next year in order to meet the “overwhelming” demand that the SUV is having.

“The success of the XC40 has even exceeded our highest expectations,” said Volvo Cars President and CEO Hakan Samuelsson.

The Swedish company launched this SUV at the end of 2017 and has received 80,000 orders to date. The XC40 is the first model based on the company’s new compact modular architecture (CMA). In March, the company announced that it will produce in Ghent automobiles also based on this platform for the brand Lynk & Co.

Volvo will also include 100% electric models with CMA architecture in its product portfolio, as well as new smaller models, replacing the current V40.
