MONTREAL (CANADA), May 31 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The vice president of Sustainability and Environmental Protection of the BMW group, Ursula Mathar, has highlighted the need to launch a greater number of charging points in cities to boost electric mobility.
In this sense, the directive considered necessary that the automotive sector advance in the process of decarbonization to achieve an efficient and sustainable mobility, with which it contributes to a reduction of emissions.
At the world summit on sustainable mobility ‘Movin’On by Michelin’, which takes place in Montreal (Canada) from June 30 to May 1, Mathar stressed that the automotive industry is immersed in a “great transformation” to achieve a future mobility electrified, connected, autonomous and in which an option to the private vehicle is the use of the shared car with the services of ‘car sharing’.
“We are convinced that we need to decarbonise to develop services associated with the production of vehicles,” said the board of the automobile consortium based in the German city of Munich.
In addition, the vice president of BMW stressed that to achieve a greater penetration of electric vehicles on consumers it is necessary to increase the charging points in cities for this type of vehicles.
In this regard, Mathar stressed that the German corporation is in a “very good position” and that the company has the responsibility to “do more” to establish an electric mobility.
However, he stressed that this work is not only for BMW, but affects all vehicle manufacturers. “We need to work together,” he said.
