The PSA Group has decided to start a new work shift, the fourth, in its production plant in Vigo, which will be made up of 900 workers, according to the company, which said that this team will start its operations this Saturday, June 9 .
The company explained that this fourth weekend work shift is launched in order to meet the production demand of light commercial vehicles of the company (Citroën Berlingo and Peugeot Partner).
The French consortium stressed that this team of workers will be operational in the months of June and July in System 1 of the Galician factory to meet the production demand of the current Berlingo and Partner, which will soon be replaced by new models.
However, the fourth work team will be transferred after the summer to System 2, in which the new commercial Citroën Berlingo, Peugeot Rifter and Opel / Vauxhall Combo are manufactured this week.
The automotive corporation stressed that this shift will be composed of new employees, who have been hired progressively since the beginning of the year, and also by workers from other shifts.
In this regard, he indicated that the incorporation of a fourth work shift reinforces the plant’s equipment to deal with the launch of these light commercial vehicles. In addition, he recalled that the implementation of the third shift, which is maintained since its implementation, “meant in its day a strong growth in the activity of the factory and led to the development of the model of flexibility that places the center of Vigo between the factories more efficient, “the company added.
For his part, the director of the Iberian Industrial Pole and the Galician factory, Frédéric Puech, assured that the incorporation of the new equipment “is a very important event for the Vigo factory”.
