The passenger cars lower than the whole industry
Affected by the preferential reduction on purchase tax, the growth of passenger cars slowed down, which was the minimum level of growth as of 2008. In 2017, the production and sales reached 24,807,000 and 24,718,000 units respectively, up 1.6% and 1.4% year on year, 1.6 percentage points lower than the overall growth of automobiles. The rates of contribution to the overall growth reached 85.5% and 85.6% respectively, 1.3 percentage points and 1.4 percentage points lower than that of last year.
As seen by type, comparing with the same period last year, except that SUV continued growth, of which the production and sales were up 12.4% and 13.3%, others all witnessed decline. To be specific, the production and sales of cars were down 1.4% and 2.5% respectively. For MPV, the production and sales were down 17.6% and 17.1%. The situation of crossed passenger cars was even worse, of which such figures decreased by 20.4% and 20%.
In 2017, the sales of passenger cars with engine capacity of 1.6L and below reached 17,193,000 units, down 1.1% year on year, 1.8 percentage points lower than the same period last year, accounting for 69.6% of the total sales of passenger cars. The sales of Chinese brand passenger cars with engine capacity of 1.6L and below reached 8,374,000 units, down 0.4% year on year.
