McLaren Group and Lucas are pleased to announce the extension of their partnership for a third time. The three-year agreement sees Lucas continue as McLaren Group Partner: Fit out and Finishing Specialists, enabling continued development and use of cutting edge Lucas technologies.
Lucas has recently won the National Technology Award 2018 for manufacturing and construction technology, the first time these awards have covered this industrial sector. This award is testament to the skill and precision of Lucas in their use of groundbreaking new technologies.
The partnership started when Lucas successfully completed a series of fit out and finishing packages at the McLaren Production Centre. The centre was opened in 2011 by David Cameron, the then Prime Minister, and has since produced more than 15,000 McLaren Automotive road cars.
Lucas has previously developed a bespoke resin coating system, specifically for McLaren. This ultra high gloss ‘mirror’ finish solution has been applied to the floors in both the McLaren Technology Centre, and in McLaren Formula 1 pit garages. In addition, Lucas also applied a range of decorative and protective treatments to all parts of the building, including the main production halls.
Since then, Lucas has completed a series of challenging projects across the McLaren campus, including the state-of-the-art Thought Leadership Centre which opened in 2015. Lucas continues to work throughout the campus, ensuring that all McLaren assets retain the best possible finish.
The partnership enables Lucas to show clients their best work in situ, with exclusive tours of the iconic McLaren campus.
