Delivering a World-Class Driver Experience with Two New Lyft Leaders

We’re excited to welcome Cal Lankton and Geoffrey Bain to Lyft as Vice President of Infrastructure Operations and Senior Director of Retail Operations, respectively. Cal and Geoffrey will work closely with Karim Bousta, who was recently brought on as Vice President of Driver Experience Operations. Together, this group will develop and execute Lyft’s long-term vision for a world-class driver experience, particularly as it relates to our retail footprint and reducing overall driver expenses.

In his role as Vice President of Infrastructure Operations, Cal will be responsible for the acquisition, design, and construction of the next-generation driver service centers – with three inaugural locations set to break ground before the end of the year. As Cal scales Lyft’s retail infrastructure, he will keep a watchful eye on reducing the company’s overall environmental impact with a focus on electric vehicle charging stations and continuing our commitment to renewable energy for our driver hubs.

Before coming to Lyft, Cal led the development of the world’s largest EV charging network for Tesla. In addition to building out Tesla’s Supercharger network, Cal spent the last five years leading a variety of teams, including most recently running the residential and commercial energy business.

While Cal will focus on infrastructure, Geoffrey will be responsible for what goes on inside the new driver service centers as Senior Director of Retail Operations. Geoffrey will work to ensure that our 1.5 million drivers across the country enjoy a consistent, driver-centric experience when visiting their local Lyft center – whether that is one of our more than 50 current Hubs or Hub Lites or the new service centers popping up rapidly throughout 2019. This includes execution of driver amenities that reduce expenses like oil changes and vehicle maintenance, tax and career support, as well as educational opportunities.

Prior to joining Lyft, Geoffrey led multiple global retail operations, most recently at Unilever where he grew his team and developed a full suite of resources in order to produce multiple award-winning experiential concepts and support all of the company’s retail locations. Before Unilever, he was at Nike where he led omnichannel retail experience delivery.

Outside of work, Cal lives in the Bay Area with his wife and two-year-old son and enjoys cycling and hiking with the family. In his free time, Geoffrey is an avid skier, runner, and SoulCycle junkie who spends his weekends in San Francisco searching for new retail experiences. He ditched his car over three years ago in NYC and refuses to own another one.

With the addition of Cal and Geoffrey to our leadership team, COO Jon McNeill continues his hiring momentum to grow Lyft’s operational capabilities with experienced, skilled, and passionate people who recognize that drivers are the cornerstone of our business and are dedicated to making their in-person experience best-in-class.
