Automobile sales will rise by 7.3% in 2018 and will exceed 1.4 million units by 2020

The registrations of cars and SUVs in the Spanish market will reach a volume of 1.32 million units at the end of the current year, which will mean an increase of 7.3% compared to the data of the previous year, according to the MSI forecasts .

These estimates, unveiled in the framework of the XXVII National Congress of Distribution organized by Faconauto, show that this year and in the next two years there will be sales increases in Spain.

Thus, next year car deliveries of 1.35 million units will be reached, which will represent a positive evolution of 2.5%, while in 2020 the barrier of 1.4 million units sold will be exceeded, a 4.8% more.

In this way, the MSI consultancy estimates that the national automobile market will experience growth of over 15% between 2017, with deliveries of 1.23 million units, and 2020, with 1.42 million units.

CIRCULATING PARK.

On the other hand, the document reflects that the car fleet circulating in Spain will reach a volume of 23.26 million passenger cars and SUVs at the end of the current year, which will represent a progression of 2.8%.

However, the volume of cars in Spain will rise by 0.8% next year, to 23.45 million units, while in 2020 this figure will be 23.63 million units, with another slight growth of 0.7 %.

According to MSI, vehicles up to five years old will represent almost 20% of the national park this year, with 4.6 million units, while in 2020 they will reach 20.5% of the total, with a volume of 4.86 millions of units.

On the other hand, passenger cars and SUVs between six and nine years old that circulate on Spanish roads will reach 3.14 million units this year, 13.5% of the total, and 2.93 million units in 2020, reducing their weight over the total up to 12.3%.
