„Ever since gaining my doctorate, I have worked intensively in the area of heat treatment and in particular in material engineering – in research as well as in industrial practice“, says Dr. Küper. „I feel very honored that my work is awarded with this highly respected prize.” Not only the AWT but in particular the ZF Friedrichshafen AG, for which Küper has worked for 18 years, profits from his diverse activities in the area of material engineering.
In a multitude of projects, Dr. Küper has put latest scientific findings on heat treatment and material engineering into industrial practice. Thus, he contributed significantly to advancing heat treatment at ZF and improving the quality of ZF components. Dr. Küper also gave various trainings to share his knowledge with colleagues.
In addition to his function at ZF, Dr. Küper is also active in research and teaching. For many years, he has given seminars at the Technical Academy, has been member of the scientific board of IWT, i.e. the Leibnitz Institute for materials-oriented technologies in Bremen, Germany, and has submitted the research needs of the industry in publicly funded projects. Numerous publications and keynotes as well as various patents top off the scientific commitment of Arnim Küper.
The „Karl-Wilhelm-Burgdorf Award“ was endowed by the company Burgdorf in remembrance of its founder and is awarded annually by the board of the AWT. Among experts in the field, the prize is regarded as the highest award for material engineers in heat treatment.
