Honda Motor Co., Ltd. today announced a summary of automobile production, Japan domestic sales, and export results for the calendar year 2018 as well as for the month of December 2018.

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year increase for the seventh consecutive year (since 2012), setting an all-time record for calendar year production. This includes all-time records for calendar year production in Asia and China.

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year increase for the seventh consecutive year (since 2012), setting an all-time record for calendar year production.

December 2018

Production in Japan for the month of December 2018 experienced a year-on-year increase for the sixth consecutive month (since July 2018).

Production in regions outside of Japan experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in three months (since September 2018).

Worldwide production experienced a year-on-year decrease for the first time in three months (since September 2018).

New vehicle registrations experienced a year-on-year decrease for the second consecutive year (since 2017).

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year increase for the second consecutive year (since 2017).

was the industry’s sixth best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the calendar year 2018 with sales of 90,719 units.

N-BOX was the industry’s top-selling car among mini-vehicles for the calendar year 2018 with sales of 241,871 units.

December 2018

Total domestic automobile sales in the Japanese market for the month of December 2018 experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive month (since October 2018).

New vehicle registrations were the same as last year.

Sales of mini-vehicles experienced a year-on-year increase for the third consecutive month (since October 2018).

FIT was the industry’s seventh best-selling car among new vehicle registrations for the month of December 2018 with sales of 6,369 units. FREED was the industry’s 10th best-selling car with sales of 5,878 units.

<Mini-vehicles – under 660cc>
N-BOX was the industry’s top-selling car in the mini-vehicle category for the month of December 2018 with sales of 16,607 units.
