Partners Integrate LiDAR Sensors In Vehicle Windshields – Sensors Online

XenomatiX and AGC are partnering to address the growing demand for autonomous vehicles. Jointly, they have developed a windshield-mounted LiDAR system enabling self-driving cars to move from a prototype look and feel to a complete consumer design aspect. Exactly what does that mean?

Seamless integration of LiDAR behind a vehicle’s windshield is devoid of moving parts, which is always a desirable improvement. Also, straight from the source, “Integrating XenoLidar behind front and rear windows is an important step towards higher levels of automation for mass production cars”, says Filip Geuens, CEO of XenomatiX. AGC Automotive Europe CEO, Jean Marc Meunier adds, “We are pleased to offer Wideye, and the first windshield transparent for infrared LiDAR light. This way we tackle multiple concerns from car manufacturers on LiDAR integration, like cleaning the sensor, protecting it, wiring it efficiently, etc…”
