STUTTGART (GERMANY), 21 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

Porsche has started an autonomous driving project at its plant in Ludwigsburg (Germany), through which cars go from the parking area to the workshop completely alone.

According to the company detailed in a statement, a Porsche worker ‘activates’ the vehicle from a tablet and this progresses autonomously to the factory workshop.

The initiative of the manufacturer of sports vehicles is part of a collaboration with Startup Autobahn, which will be completed by mid-2019.

Before vehicles enter the workshop autonomously, Porsche and Startup Autobahn have virtually recreated the environment of the facilities, and then start the project under real conditions.

“Autonomous driving will revolutionize traffic in a few years, however, we can already use the technological possibilities currently available to make the work processes even more effective and efficient,” said the head of Autonomous Driving Porsche workshop, Alexander Haas.
