On January 12th, GWM held an opening ceremony for its Austria Research and Development Company in Austria, and more than 120 guests from organizations such as the Chinese embassy in Austria, local government and GWM Company attended the ceremony. The Austrian R&D Company is a wholly-owned subsidiary and an important R&D center of GWM. Its work will center on the new energy vehicles and automobile parts, and will focus on the R&D of new energy motors and controllers at the initial stage.
The Austrian R&D Company is another overseas high standard R&D center of GWM after its launch of similar institutions in Japan, American and India, demonstrating that GWM’s global R&D layout has taken shape.
Now, the Austrian R&D Company has already put together an international R&D team experienced in motors and controllers and plans to invest a total amount of 20 million euro into the R&D company by 2020, aiming to become a new force of Chinese brand in the area of “SMART manufacture” in Europe and even in the world.
In fact, GWM’s choice to establish a R&D center in Austria accords with its strategic needs. Automobile industry is a pillar industry of Austria, with three distinctive industrial clusters, more than 700 automobile companies, and 370 thousand employees, a figure meaning that 1 out of 9 people is employed in automobile-related enterprises. With their high technologies and high flexibility, automobile manufacturing companies form the nucleus of automobile industry. They have powerful creativity especially in areas like new energy, new material, lightweight structure and automobile parts, and thus are credited as “the Silicon Valley of automobile industry” in central Europe. Launching the R&D center in Austria, GWM can fully utilize local resources of supplier and labor, as well as the advantageous conditions, so as to develop its strength quickly.
As a leading enterprise of self-owned brand in China, GWM has been concentrating on building a global system of research and development, and integrating global advantageous resources to achieve technological innovation.
In early 2016, GWM established its Japanese R&D center.
In the latter half of the same year, GWM’s HAVAL R&D center in America was established.
Therefore, it is obvious that GWM has been vigorously carrying out its overseas layout and the process has been going very smoothly.
In the future, GWM will continue to expand the overseas market, creating global R&D model and designing products satisfying global demands. A layout of manufacture and marketing which covers major markets such as Russia and Australia will be gradually built, so that GWM can earn a leading position for its HAVEL and WEY in various target markets and become a top SUV designer and manufacturer.
