Nissan Chile celebrates its third year in the country leading the SUV segment and increasing its market share

SANTIAGO, Chile – Nissan Chile celebrated its third year of operations in the country leading the SUV segment and with a market share of 8% between January and December 2017. Thus, Nissan finished 2017 in fourth place in the Chilean market share, climbing one position in the sales ranking with respect to the previous year.   “We are proud that in our third year operating in Chile as a subsidiary of Nissan Motor Corporation, we are leaders in the SUV segment with models such as Kicks, Qashqai and X-Trail,” said Marcelo Sepulveda, director of Sales and Distribution Network Development for Nissan Chile. “In addition, we were the only brand within the top five that increased its market share.”   Sepulveda highlighted that Nissan has recently introduced new versions of the Pathfinder, X-Trail and Qashqai in Chile.”We have a very broad and complete SUV portfolio, based on design, comfort and advanced technology,” said Sepulveda. “To this, we add several awards obtained by models that we launched in previous years, such as the NP300, which places us in an excellent position today.”   Nissan Kicks, launched in Chile in 2017, has been a success in sales with more than 3,000 units invoiced since its launch. In addition, it has been recognized seven times in Latin America since its launch in Brazil in August 2016 with awards such as “SUV of the year” – as chosen by the Interamerican Federation of Automobile Journalists (FIPA, for its initials in Spanish) – and “Best SUV” awarded by Car and Driver magazine in Brazil.   During 2017, several important launches and activities were carried out in Chile including:   Launch of the Nissan Pathfinder In March, Nissan introduced the fourth-generation Pathfinder with a new design and better technologies, bringing it closer to the company’s DNA with a higher level of performance and style. Launch of the Nissan X-Trail The new Nissan X-Trail, the best selling SUV in the world, was introduced in Chile in October with a renewed exterior design, greater interior elegance, and a new offering of innovative technologies. The Nissan X-Trail improvements were based on customer feedback, and they are designed to reinforce the model’s position as the perfect car for family adventures. Launch of the Nissan Qashqai The end of the year brought with it the remarkable introduction of the new Nissan Qashqai, an urban crossover that celebrated its 10th anniversary since its launch and was renewed with significant changes that strengthen its premium and urban character. The improvements focus on four areas: a new contemporary exterior design, higher levels of interior quality, better performance, and the incorporation of new Nissan Intelligent Mobility technologies. Social Responsibility In 2017, Nissan Chile supported Santa Olga, a town affected by fires at the beginning of the year. Nissan donated two NV350s to Desafio Levantemos Chile to support the reconstruction tasks.   With enthusiasm and lots of energy, Nissan Chile and the Pelota de Trapo Foundation hosted an entertaining sporting event at the Arturo Vidal Stadium in San Joaquin. Two hundred children, accompanied by their parents, met at the venue to play football and meet Pablo Quintanilla, World Rally Cross Country Champion and Nissan NP300 Ambassador, the most iconic pickup truck in the brand’s portfolio. The initiative sought to promote sports among children who are at social risk by doing physical and recreational activities.   To end the year, Nissan Chile again sponsored the Pedro Lira Nursery School located in Pudahuel. The company organized an afternoon filled with entertainment and magic, during which the 104 children who attend that school – with ages ranging from three months to four years old – received Christmas gifts and got to meet Santa Claus.   Forecast for 2018 For the current year, Sepulveda projects an industry total of around 390,000 units, with Nissan sales accounting for approximately 32,000 vehicles and a market share slightly higher than in 2017.   He added that the brand is focused on smart mobility, enhancing all the safety and connectivity elements of its models. Nissan Chile seeks to continue growing and innovating, transmitting and introducing the latest technologies in each of its products and services, making “Innovation that excites” into a way of life.    ContactLuciana Herrmann Subdirectora Comunicación Corporativa América Latina Luciana.Herrmann@nissan.com.mxFor more information about Nissan Motor Co., Ltd.’s products, services and our commitment to sustainable mobility, visit Nissan-Global.com.
