Must be approved tomorrow

SANTANDER, 14 Feb. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The unions UGT and BUB in Bridgestone have called off the strike for a week (13 to 19 February) that yesterday paralyzed the production of the San Miguel Bridge factory (Cantabria) after reaching a pre-agreement last night with the company that includes a salary increase of “Real” CPI between 2016 and 2019, which must be signed by the union majority on Thursday, probably in the Biscayan town of Basauri.

This has been reported to Europa Press the president of the works council in the Cantabrian factory of Bridgestone, Luis Ruiz (UGT), who has argued that it has been the “massive” endorsement of the strike both in Puente San Miguel and in the factories of Basauri and Burgos, which has made the company cede after two years of negotiations without having achieved “a collective agreement of general effectiveness.”

In this regard, he pointed out that last November CC.OO. and the company reached an agreement “of limited effectiveness” that “created a lot of tension in the workforce”, which “culminated” yesterday in the strike, in defense of a rise in the “real” CPI in the years 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019 .

The pre-agreement reached yesterday must be signed tomorrow at a negotiating table that needs the majority so that the agreement can be signed.

In this sense, Ruiz has expressed his desire that the rest of the unions, including CCOO, sign the agreement.

According to the convening unions, yesterday’s strike was “total production” in Puente San Miguel and reached 95% in the Bridgestone factories in Basauri and Burgos.
