Full throttle for collective agreements
It’s about more money – but also about the fact that finally more motor vehicle employers pay by tariff. Of the eight car dealerships in Black and Decker Street, only three are bound by the collective agreement for the motor trade.
Two of them belong to Jürgen Karpinski, the president of the Central Association of German Motor Vehicle Industry (ZDK), the umbrella organization of motor vehicle employers. Under pressure from IG Metall, the employer president and his two Idstein car dealerships joined the tariff. “Follow the President!”, Call the activists. The slogan is also on a large banner with Karpinski’s likeness, they have it.
However, the President does not really commit to collective bargaining coverage, The branch managers of the two Schmitt car dealerships do not want to let the assets in, even though unions have a right of access to companies according to the law and IG Metall has already held talks in advance. But many employees come out by themselves and seek the conversation.
“We have not noticed too much about the new collective bargaining coverage here. We are still working 42 hours a week, “says a salesman. The collective agreement is 36 hours. After all, Karpinski has ever extended the holiday from 24 to the standard 30 days a year.
“You must also choose a works council”, which ensures that the employer also complies with the collective agreement, “one of the assets makes clear. “Otherwise, the collective agreement remains a paper tiger.”
Collective bargaining so far without result
Before Hesse, we have already negotiated with employers in other tariff areas. Bayern started on May 7th. This was followed by Baden-Württemberg, Lower Saxony, Berlin-Brandenburg-Saxony, Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, Schleswig-Holstein, Saxony-Anhalt and Hamburg. And also the collective bargaining yesterday in NRW brought no result.
Everywhere employers offer similar offers as in Hessen. In addition, they categorically reject the adjustment of wages and salaries in the East to the West.
