MADRID, Jun 5 (EUROPA PRESS) –
The Polestar automobile brand is finalizing the production of the pre-series models of the Polestar 1 and will soon start manufacturing the final version of the vehicle at its factory in Chengdu, China.
According to the company in a statement, the Asian plant is finalizing the final details for the production of the model that will be delivered to customers, ensuring that the manufacturing and assembly processes work as planned.
“It’s great to see how we’ve made progress, since we showed the Polestar 1 for the first time in 2017, until now that we have our new manufacturing facilities up and running,” said Thomas Ingenlath, CEO of the brand.
The Polestar 1 is a plug-in hybrid with up to 150 kilometers of electric autonomy and 600 horsepower and, according to the company itself, this grand tourer coupe will become the hybrid with greater autonomy in electric mode manufactured to date.
In total, between the electric drive and conventional combustion, the Polestar 1 reaches 1,000 kilometers of autonomy and accelerates from 0 to 100 kilometers per hour in 3.8 seconds.
The company explained that the purchase experience of Polestar 1, which will have a planned cost of 130,000 euros, will be entirely digital, without the need for the customer to visit a dealer if he does not wish to.
In addition, at the beginning of 2020, the company will also start the production of its Polestar 2 model, which can already be ordered through the web or from the ‘app’ Polestar Explore.
The Polestar 2 has two electric motors and a battery with a capacity of 78 kWh and will have a range of about 500 kilometers. This new vehicle of the brand develops a maximum power of 408 horses.
The basic version of the Polestar 2 will have an approximate price of 39,000 euros for the German market, while during the first twelve months of production, the indicative price of the launch edition will be 59,900 euros.
