Unique £50m McLaren sportscar and supercar line-up brought together for the first time

  • First time these examples of McLaren’s modern day roadcars have been brought together in a ‘collection’ estimated to be worth £50m
  • Cars were ‘reunited’ at the McLaren Technology Centre (MTC) in Woking, Surrey
  • The unique line-up was created to help celebrate McLaren Automotive employee, friends and family open day

For the first time McLaren has ‘reunited’ a unique collection of its modern sportscars and supercars at the luxury maker’s global headquarters in Woking, Surrey.

The special line-up of 23 cars, estimated to be worth around £50m, included iconic models such as the P1TM GTR – the track version of the world’s first ever hybrid hypercar – through to the new McLaren Speedtail of which only 106 will ever be produced – and was assembled to help celebrate the company’s employee, friends and family open day.

Despite McLaren Automotive only being founded under a decade ago, it recently built its 20,000th car. Under its £1.2bn Track25 business plan, McLaren will launch a further 14 models or derivatives between now and 2025 to add to the four already launched. All McLaren’s sportscars and supercars will be hybridised by then with an equal focus on using advanced materials to save weight and enable exhilarating performance.

Around 3,000 of the company’s employees, their families and friends, supported by over 70 volunteers, joined members of the company’s executive team to see the exclusive display alongside actitvities that ranged from ride on P1TM hypercar ‘races’, to a children’s competition to ‘design’ the best car judged by McLaren Design Director Rob Melville, to testing reaction speeds on a Batak machine supplied by tyre partner Pirelli.

“Seeing our famous line-up of cars assembled here for the first time today is a reminder to everyone of how far we’ve come as a company in such a short space of time and the ambition and innovation of our people who have helped create that success.

“It’s thanks to them, with the support of their friends and families, that we have been able to achieve so much, so quickly and launch so many amazing cars, over 90 per cent of which are exported around the world. Our ambition as a company remains stronger than ever and we look forward to adding more amazing drivers’ cars to our range very soon.”
Mike Flewitt, Chief Executive Officer, McLaren Automotive.

About McLaren Automotive:
McLaren Automotive is a creator of luxury, high-performance sportscars and supercars.

Every vehicle is hand-assembled at the McLaren Production Centre (MPC) in Woking, Surrey, England.

Launched in 2010, the company is now the largest part of the McLaren Group.

The company has defined product families: Sports Series, Super Series, Ultimate Series and Motorsport which are retailed through over 80 retailers in more than 30 markets around the world.

McLaren is a pioneer that continuously pushes the boundaries. In 1981, it introduced lightweight and strong carbon fibre chassis into Formula 1 with the McLaren MP4/1. Then in 1993 it designed and built the McLaren F1 road car – the company has not built a car without a carbon fibre chassis since. As part of the Ultimate Series, McLaren was the first to deliver a hybrid hypercar, the McLaren P1™.

Announced at Goodwood Festival of Speed in 2018, the company’s Track25 business plan will see it invest £1.2billion in research and development to deliver 18 new cars or derivatives by the end of 2025.

In 2018, the company launched the 600LT and the first two cars of Track25, the McLaren Speedtail, the next Ultimate Series, and McLaren’s first ever Hyper-GT, and 720S Spider. It also opened a new £50m McLaren Composites Technology Centre in the Sheffield region in the North of England that will see it produce the next generation of lightweight carbon fibre ‘tubs’ that are at the heart of all McLaren cars.

2019 saw McLaren launch the 600LT Spider, the unveil of the previously-confirmed track-only Senna GTR and the new McLaren GT revealed as the fourth car of Track25.

To support the development, engineering and manufacture of its range of innovative sportscars and supercars, McLaren Automotive partners with world leading companies to provide specialist expertise, technology and solutions. These include Richard Mille, Pirelli, Dell Technologies, Ashurst, AkzoNobel and OnePlus.

McLaren Group:
