Management of Volkswagen Navarra presents its proposal for agreement of the third model to the works committee

PAMPLONA, June 28 (EUROPA PRESS) –

The management of Volkswagen Navarra has presented this Friday to the works committee its proposal of agreement of the third model of the factory. The definitive text to be agreed will be sent to the Volkswagen center in Wolfsburg (Germany), with the aim of “getting the award of a new vehicle for the Navarre plant, which would join the Volkswagen Polo and T-Cross that are now produced “

The Wolfsburg plant transmitted last week to representatives of the Landaben plant the need to decomprometerse to meet the productivity objectives entrusted, demanded an increase in the number of cars that occur daily and urged both parties to reach an agreement of the third model -in which they specify their approaches- before next July 6, as reported by Volkswagen Navarra in a note.

In this sense, the document presented this Friday by management highlights the importance of the fulfillment of this year’s production program and the consolidation of the factory as a reference, within the Volkswagen Group, in terms of productivity.

The management proposal highlights that a “favorable” decision for the Landaben factory “would give us greater production stability in high annual production programs, would involve additional investments more continuously and, above all, would allow us to have a model bridge for the electric car “.

Thus, the document makes clear that “with a third model, (Volkswagen Navarra would have) a more alternative and, therefore, a more stable production and greater security in employment and our future.”

The proposed agreement contains six measures, three of them associated with the fulfillment of the productive program of 2019 and three other measures of competitiveness.

Regarding the fulfillment of the program, the document states that the flexibility measures of the Collective Agreement necessary for the realization of the productive program will be taken, prioritizing the trips of pauses in the necessary shifts until the end of the year and the accomplishment of voluntary Saturdays.

In addition, the shift of a work shift from July to August is proposed with the conditions that will be agreed in the Substantial Change of Working Conditions Agreement; and, finally, with the objective of maintaining the productive factory every day possible until the end of the year, the proposal contemplates organizing the enjoyment of the 4 days of industrial day, in a rotating manner, in such a way that no employee works above the 216 days in the year 2019.

COMPETITIVENESS MEASURES

With regard to competitiveness measures, the specific proposal that will increase the production capacity of the factory to 1,438 cars a day, with the aim of “meet the demanding production programs and show the competitiveness of the factory within the Volkswagen Group” . “If the Consortium finally assigns a third model to Volkswagen Navarra, this measure will be implemented from the moment in which the car is awarded,” he says.

Also in the competitiveness section, the document proposes to agree on the necessary measures to comply with the forthcoming releases. Finally, if the production volumes require, both parties would undertake to study the deflexibility measures (work shifts, shift of breaks) that guarantee the competitiveness of the company.

All these measures, says the management, are aimed at achieving the expected productivity targets annually.

NAVARRE PROVIDERS AND ELECTROMOBILITY

The final considerations of the proposal include the objective of increasing the number of suppliers in Navarra and, consequently, enabling “the increase in associated employment in the automotive industry”.

Kerstin Scholz, director of Human Resources of Volkswagen Navarra, indicates that this proposal of agreement wants to turn into the best tool “to reach the adjudication of a third model, that would allow to strengthen the stability of the plant, so much in terms of production as of employment , and would place us as a favorable alternative within the strategic development proposed by the Volkswagen Group in terms of electromobility “.
