At the Service Training Center in Vienna-Aspern, trainer Peter Pinter (right) Harald Zenz, Rene Mayer and Philipp Wessely (from left to right) explain the inner workings of an e-mobile.

Those who say e like mobility must also say B like a battery. But that’s not the only difference in terms of e-mobility compared to conventional cars: the range, the lack of operating noise, the absence of a transmission and acceleration without switching interruptions and the driving behavior at increased speeds and operating costs – all this will be explained to potential buyers , Therefore, there are training for Opel sales consultants since autumn 2018.

Likewise, the revised technical requirements of Corsa-e for maintenance and repairs require special know-how. Therefore, there are also workshop employees since autumn 2018 trainings.

And there is even more need for knowledge with the launch of the Grandland X as a plug-in hybrid – and subsequently also for all other Opel models, because by 2024 there should be an e-variant for every Opel model.

Also measurements require special know-how (v.l.n.r.): trainer Peter Pinter, Harald Zenz, Rene Mayer, Philipp Wessely.

How can the enormous need for knowledge be handled most efficiently and quickly? The question was already at the start of the e-model offensive. The answer: Integrated learning (blended learning), a mix of e-learning and conventional training in an Opel training center. Partner proven for more than 25 years: Raytheon Professional Services, a training subsidiary specializing in the US electronics company Raytheon Company.

Raytheon and Opel / Vauxhall have won international awards for joint training projects. Raytheon’s trademarks are innovative learning methods such as microlearning, adaptive learning (= reactive and personalized learning approach) and flex learning solutions (= flexible, individual and innovative development measures).

Andreas Schüler / Country Manager Raytheon Austria explains: “Opel and Raytheon have developed web-based training in five stages. In addition, there are trainings in the Service Training Center in the Aspern plant; on ‘Safety in handling high-voltage vehicles’ and the technical training for the qualification levels HV1 and HV2 in accordance with OVE Directive R 19.’

Fit for many e-car customers

The Austrian Opel dealers have long recognized the signs of the times and are well prepared for the future. This is how Auto Ebner Managing Director and Owner Andreas Leodolter says: “It is absolutely important to us to provide our customers with the best possible advice and information in this phase of change in alternative drive systems.

A high level of professional training of our employees at all locations and all departments is part of the beginning of our company’s guide. Regular training of our qualified technical staff is therefore an important and indispensable measure. “

The sales staff of Auto Ebner have already completed all training courses on electromobility and are well prepared for the automotive future. The technicians have already been trained in high-voltage training and continue to participate in training and further education.

Watch out!

Klaus Mayer / Managing Director and owner of Autohaus Mayer GmbH in Mistelbach and Hollabrunn reports: “In July, all sales staff will be trained. There are even more training for the technicians; first on the Internet and then two days of training in November. Mastering the technical side of e-mobility is very important. Our preparations in this regard are therefore extra-thorough. “
