PLASTIC OMNIUM INNOVATIONS FOR CLEANER ENERGY • Solutions for hybrid enginesPlastic Omnium offers solutions specifically designed for plug-in hybrid vehicles.TANKTRONIC® is an intelligent system that enables a driving strategy adapted to each vehicle. It combines INWIN, a fuel tank resistant to the rise in pressure of petrol vapors during driving in electric mode, and an innovative E-valve electronically controlled.
• Water injection systemInitially designed to improve engine performance, water injection significantly reduces fuel consumption and consequently CO2 emissions. Plastic Omnium technology is suitable for all types of petrol vehicles with up to 15% CO2 reduction.
• Clean diesel: SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) This technology consists of a spray of AdBlue® in the exhaust line, which in contact with the gases from the combustion of diesel, causes a chemical reaction transforming the oxides of nitrogen pollutants in nitrogen and water vapor. The SCR can reduce NOx by 95%.
• Clean Diesel: Dual SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) The technology developed by Plastic Omnium improves the efficiency of the diesel engine from start-up and under all driving conditions, see attached document.
PLASTIC OMNIUM INNOVATIONS FOR NEW ENERGIES • Pressurized hydrogen storage system. The gas is stored in type IV bottles designed to withstand high internal stresses. The bottle consists of a 5mm waterproof thermoplastic liner and a thick carbon fiber structure. Plastic Omnium’s R & D has for several years been investigating a technology that today enables 700-bar reservoirs. With 2 tanks of 60l each, the hydrogen vehicle has a range of 700km.
• The fuel cell: a zero emission solution One of Plastic Omnium’s areas of innovation aims to supply the vehicle’s electric motors with a fuel cell that transforms oxygen and stored hydrogen into electrical energy. Electric vehicles equipped with a fuel cell are 100% ecological, releasing only water into the atmosphere.
