Navigation Wireless Update

I had just got in the car for my morning commute when I was notified that the navigation data had been updated. I guess an over-the-air (OTA) update was done when I was driving back home. The latest navigation data must have been downloaded automatically and updated overnight. I didn’t even have to keep the car turned on. In the past, I had to download new map data onto my PC, transfer it onto an SD memory card, put the memory card in the car and then wait for it to update. Yes, navigation systems now come with an OTA update. Super convenient!

Connected Car Service Apps for Air-Conditioning

I had just finished my lunch and began packing up the materials I would need for the afternoon meeting. It’s hot outside at over 30°C (86°F). I hate walking to my car through the parking lot. Under the scorching sun. I opened the connected car service app before leaving my office; turned on the engine, set the cabin temperature to the lowest level possible and turned on the ventilated seat. The cabin was cool and comfortable when I entered the car. What a relief.

Sending the exact coordinates

It is always a good idea to let the person you are meeting know exactly when you will arrive. By sharing your location you can do exactly this I tapped on ‘Share my location’ and entered the phone number of the guy I was meeting. He now has a link to a map which shows the exact location of my car on his phone. He can check how far away I am from the destination and see when I am expected to arrive with a few taps on his phone.

Share my location function
*Provides the distance to destination, estimated time of arrival and current speed of travel.

Voice recognition(PTT, Push-to-talk) button on the left side of the steering wheel

I had a blind date one evening and I wondered whether she could be my soulmate. I pressed the Push to talk button on the steering wheel. “What is today’s horoscope for Leo?” I consulted with my friend onboard. “You will meet someone you always wanted. Proceed with confidence” Great! I was feeling positive as well. I wondered how I should break the ice. Hmm… it’s getting a bit hot in here. “Cool it down” I said. The fan began to blow a bit harder and cabin became cooler. All of this was done with my hands firmly on the steering wheel.

Real-Time Path Discovery

I was feeling a bit worried about traffic as I was about to finish at work. I got in the car and searched for the fastest route and was given a 23km long route which would take 51 minutes. The route changed with real-time traffic information but guided me to my destination in exactly 51 minutes thanks to the data-based best route estimation. I think my blind date will go well.

Navigation with real-time traffic information
*It is a basic feature for Hyundai BlueLink, Kia UVO, and Genesis Connected Service (GCS).

Paying for your gas with your wallet never leaving your pocket

I had just sent my blind date home after arranging when next to meet. I am heading home feeling great but the fuel tank is running low. I only have enough to travel 30km.

I headed for a gas station and entered how much gas I wanted to purchase. I got out the car and started to pump gas into the tank. I got back into the car, restarted the car and began to drive away. A message was displayed on the navigation screen “50,000KRW purchase made with your credit registered on the system”. My wallet stayed in my pocket the whole time.

Onboard easy payment system
*Onboard easy payment system will be launched in the 2nd half of 2019
*System will be made available for gas stations and parking lots.
