The Spanish automobile market closed February with a volume of registrations of passenger cars and SUVs of 110,474 units, a 13% growth compared to that month of the previous year, according to data from the associations of manufacturers (Anfac), dealers (Faconauto) and sellers (Ganvam)
In the first two months of the year, deliveries of cars and SUVs in Spain stood at 212,615 units, which represents a progression of 16.4% compared to the data recorded in that period of the previous year.
The organizations indicated that, despite the increase experienced in the first two months, the data recorded are still 5% below the volume recorded in 2008, year in which the crisis began and in which more than 223,000 units were registered.
The director of Communication of Anfac, Adolfo Randulfe, indicated that last February was a “good month” in terms of registrations, thanks to the fact that all sales channels grew by more than 10% in the monthly calculation.
The general director of Ganvam, Tomás Herrera, stressed that individuals regained “the prominence given to the companies”, which shows that the demand market that was retained for some time “begins to emerge in a context of economic growth and recovery of employment “.
For his part, the director of Communication of Faconauto, Raul Morales, stressed that individuals and families show confidence in the economic context and also find in the concessionaires promotional efforts of more than 4,000 euros on average.
ALL CHANNELS PUSH.
By sales channels, deliveries of cars and jeeps to private customers in Spain stood at 52,422 units in February, 12.2% more, and 104,675 units in the first two months, 13.9% more.
For its part, the business channel acquired 31,275 units last month, 16.2% more, and 64,464 units so far this year, 21.3% more, while the ‘rent a car’ increased by 10.9% purchases in February, up to 26,777 units, and 15.5% from January, up to 42,996 units.
By market segments, registrations rose in February in all segments, with the exception of the compact (-5.4%), the premium (-0.56%), in the small minivan (-5.4%) , while in the bimester they fell only in the small monovolumes.
