Based in Palo Alto, CA, Apex.AI is helping pave the future by enabling developers to create safe, certified software for autonomous mobility systems. From automated cars and self-driving trucks, to industrial robotics and aerospace, Apex.AI is addressing a growing need for easy-to-implement, reliable software for safety-critical applications.

It’s a mission that Toyota AI Ventures is proud to support as investors in Apex.AI. And, today we’re excited to feature two job opportunities that the company is hiring for: Senior Tools Engineer in Apex.AI’s Silicon Valley headquarters, and Senior Software Engineer, Applications Engineering in the company’s office in Munich, Germany. Keep reading for more details on how you can join Apex.AI’s international team of experts.

Senior Tools Engineer (Palo Alto, CA): Apex.AI is currently looking for a senior engineer to help build new tools that support the company’s DevOps, QA, and Tooling efforts. This role is perfectly suited for candidates who like to work independently, while contributing to the short- and long-term goals of a tightly-knit engineering team.

As the Senior Tools Engineer, you will build and maintain a variety of tools for deployment, monitoring, and operations. You’ll also research and implement frameworks for various levels of testing, and periodically help with general QA tasks. As Apex.AI grows, you will be responsible for scaling the existing tools and solutions, as well as supporting new internal use cases.

To qualify, you’ll need a bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, math, physics, or a similar field, and at least three years of experience with tools, DevOps, testing and/or quality assurance. You’ll also need a deep understanding of Linux systems, C++, and excellent scripting skills with Python and Bash. A drive to implement robust and reliable software is also important, as is a strong work ethic and research skills. Due to the seniority of this position, you’ll be expected to propose new solutions to existing problems and present them to internal stakeholders, requiring you to have exceptional written and verbal communication skills.

Senior Software Engineer, Applications Engineering (Munich, Germany): Apex.AI’s Senior Software Engineer position supports several Field Application Engineers (FAEs) by customizing Apex.OS and Apex.Autonomy features to satisfy specialized customer requirements. FAEs work with customers all over the world, and their team is looking for strong C++ developers to support their engineering efforts.

In this position, you’ll function as Apex.AI’s resident C++ expert, reviewing customer code, sharing best practices and assisting with customer software system architecture, while suggesting alternative designs. You’ll also contribute to the Apex.OS and Apex.Autonomy feature development and build your own applications with Apex.OS APIs.

The expected qualifications for this position include at least three years of C++ development expertise and proven experience with task-management software, such as Jira or GitLab. You should have excellent troubleshooting and debugging skills, and strong attention to detail. Although you’ll be part of a team, this role is best for professionals who are comfortable operating without direct supervision while maintaining a “get things done” attitude.

Join a team of early adopters working to shatter the barriers complicating autonomous mobility software development. Apply today for these roles, and see other jobs available at Apex.AI in Palo Alto, CA, and Munich, Germany on the Toyota AI Ventures jobs board.
