@Tesla: 500th Supercharger station in Europe: a milestone in more ways than one

Today, we are announcing the opening of the 500th Supercharger station in Europe – a significant achievement that now includes more than 4700 individual Superchargers enabling seamless travel across 24 countries. Located in London, this landmark station at our Park Royal service center also marks the beginning of the deployment phase of V3 Superchargers outside North America.

A truly pan European networkWhen we opened the first European station in Norway in 2013, driving across multiple countries in a fully electric car was inconceivable and seen as a unique accomplishment. With the Supercharger network, long distance EV travel has become the new normal. Every day, thousands of Tesla owners undertake a road trip through Europe and stop at Supercharger stations.

In just six years, we have increased the average size of our Supercharger stations to reflect the growing size of our customer base. This included expanding and opening large stations, like Eidsvoll Verk, Nebbenes in Norway, which is the biggest European station with 44 stalls. And just like our vehicles, our V2 Superchargers keep improving over time to the benefit of our owners. Recently, we upgraded our V2 stations’ peak power to 150kW from 120kW – saving owners additional time while charging.

V3 Supercharging, a technology built for volume and mainstream EV adoptionV2 Supercharger technology already enables fast, reliable, and convenient long-distance travel. V3 is a completely new architecture with technology designed for the next wave of the electric vehicle revolution. With peak power of 250kW and a smooth power delivery that eliminates power-sharing, V3 is optimized for high volume and even faster charge times.

The first eight V3 Superchargers will be located at our new Park Royal station, in London, alongside eight V2 Superchargers. V3 Superchargers in Europe will natively support CCS connectors, but will be accessible to all Tesla owners. Model S and Model X owners using a CCS adapter will benefit from V3’s lack of power sharing at about the same peak rates as on V2 Superchargers. This adapter is standard on all new Model S and Model X vehicles and is available to existing Model S and Model X owners at a limited cost.

We are excited to continue to build the most extensive and advanced network in Europe whilst keeping the charging experience as affordable and convenient as possible for all our customers.
