In terms of intelligent manufacturing, Great Wall Motors’ Tianjin Manufacturing Base has invested more than 1 billion yuan in four production workshops, namely stamping, welding, painting and final assembly. Among them, the stamping workshop adopts the international first-class mechanical arm and robot. The main welding line of the welding workshop introduces the most advanced professional welding robot with the automation rate of 100%. Three models can be produced at the same time, and the model can be changed in only 10 seconds. Based on the construction concept of green, efficient and intelligent, the coating and final assembly workshops have created an internationally leading production site, guaranteeing the quality of the vehicle.

In terms of intelligent operation management, Great Wall Motors’ Tianjin Manufacturing Base adopts the world’s most advanced SPS distribution method. With the help of accurate material dedicated delivery and advanced logistics indicator system and AGV distribution system, it ensures timely material delivery and reduces line inventory.
In terms of environmental protection, energy saving and emission reduction, Great Wall Motors’ Tianjin Manufacturing Base adopts international famous water-based paint, and the emission of organic waste gas is 85% lower than that of solvent paint. Meanwhile, Tianjin Manufacturing Base adopts the international leading air-conditioning return air utilization technology and reclaimed water technology to save the cold and thermal energy and water resources needed for air treatment. The advanced organic waste gas incineration system enables the heat recovery rate to reach above 75% and the decomposition rate of organic waste gas to reach 100%.
While continuously improving management quality, Great Wall Motors’ Tianjin Manufacturing Base has been recognized by all sectors of society for the joint efforts of all staff. Since 2012, it has been awarded with the title of Excellent Private Enterprise in Tianjin by Tianjin Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government for 6 consecutive years. From 2012 to 2018, it has been ranked among the top 5 of Top 100 Enterprises, Top 50 Enterprises in Operating Profit, Top 50 Enterprises in Main Business Revenue and Top 50 Enterprises in Tax Revenue in TEDA for 7 consecutive years, and has been awarded with Social Responsibility Contribution Award and Excellent Entity in Environmental Protection in TEDA for many years.
With the “9+5” global production layout, it calmly copes with global competition
At the ceremony, Meng Xiangjun, Vice President of Great Wall Motors, said that Tianjin Manufacturing Base is the first process-wide vehicle and core component factory outside Baoding built and operated by Great Wall Motors in Binhai, Tianjin. It is an important step in the internationalization strategy of Great Wall Motors.
The year 2019 is a crucial year for the globalization of Great Wall Motors. Since June this year, Great Wall Motors has completed two vehicle manufacturing bases and started the construction of three vehicle manufacturing bases within half a year. Under the background of hard time in the auto market, Great Wall Motors adheres to high-quality development and rapidly improves the global production layout, showing a rare “Great Wall Speed” in the industry.
In June, Great Wall Motors’ Tula Factory in Russia was officially put into production, opening a new era of global development of Great Wall Motors and even the Chinese auto industry. In September, Great Wall Motors’ Yongchuan Smart Factory in Chongqing, the fifth in the world and the first process-wide vehicle manufacturing base in southern China, was officially completed and put into operation. In October, Great Wall Motors’ Pinghu Vehicle Project that integrates production, research and development started construction. In November, Great Wall Motors’ Taizhou Vehicle Manufacturing Project and Spotlight Automotive Project jointly invested by Great Wall Motors and BMW Group were launched successively.
Up to now, Great Wall Motors has formed three major vehicle manufacturing areas in north, east and south China, and completed the “golden triangle” production layout nationwide, which has covered the domestic market in an all-round way and strongly supported its global development. Globally, Great Wall Motors will rely on Tula Factory in Russia and KD factories in Ecuador, Malaysia and Tunisia to support its development in overseas markets. At this point, Great Wall Motors has basically improved its “9+5” global production layout.
Automobile industry is an important indicator of social development and scientific and technological progress, as well as a concrete embodiment of the comprehensive strength and market competitiveness of a country and a region. For Chinese automobile enterprises, only comprehensive internationalization can help them achieve better sustainable development. In the face of future global competition, Great Wall Motors should transform from “originating from China” to “representing China and going global”, and go steadily in this direction.
