GENEVA (SWITZERLAND), 6 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –

The vehicle factory maintained by the German Volkswagen automobile consortium in Landaben (Pamplona), where the Polo model is produced, to which a second vehicle will be added after 2018, has “a great future ahead”, according to the statement. President of the Volkswagen Group, Matthias Müller.

Speaking to Europa Press, the head of the Wolfsburg consortium said that the Landaben factory is one of the “greatest tradition” for the company. In summer of last year, the serial production of the sixth generation of the Polo and also of its variant GTI began.

In addition, the manager has said that the Spanish market is located for the German group as one of the “most important” in Europe. On the other hand, Müller has made it clear that diesel is not a finished fuel and that it will be part of the solution to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.

The CEO of the German multinational has underlined, in turn, that diesel-powered vehicles that comply with the latest regulation of European emission homologation (Euro 6) are “very clean”.

The manager, who sees with good eyes the synergies between brands to assume the high cost of the production of vehicles, and more now if possible with the arrival of electric vehicles and with autonomous driving, has explained that the sales of the group will be located in a figure similar to those registered in 2017, although it did not want to go into details because it would “speculate” without knowing the conditions that the market will face in 2018.

Last year, the Volkswagen group achieved its best historical sales figure, with 10.7 million units sold worldwide, which represented an increase of 4.3% compared to the previous year.
