Kia Motors Corporation today announced its February 2020 global sales results for passenger cars, recreational vehicles (RVs) and commercial vehicles, recording a total of 187,844 units sold, which represents a five percent decrease from February 2019.
Compared to February 2019, the sales in Korea dropped by 13.7 percent from 33,222 units to 28,681 units, while sales outside Korea decreased by merely 3.2 percent from 164,434 units to 159,163 units. The reduced sales in both the Korean and overseas markets are largely attributable to the contracting consumer spending caused by COVID-19 outbreak in Korea and China.
Globally, the Sportage SUV was at the top of Kia’s sales with 25,555 units sold, followed by the Seltos with 25,129 units and the Rio (Pride) subcompact sedan with 19,428 units.
Recently launched models such as the K7 full-size sedan, Seltos, Telluride mid-size SUV and Mohave SUV continue to rack up record sales around the globe, owing to their pioneering design, innovative technologies, top-rate safety and performance.
Kia Motors has put in place diverse managerial and technical oversight measures to prevent any infection of COVID-19. The company is monitoring the situations around the world in real-time and continuing its effort to tackle the further spread of the outbreak.
