Enrollment of electrified, hybrid and gas vehicles increased by more than 50% in February

During the second month of the year, 16,303 vehicles of these types have been delivered in Spain, with an increase in car deliveries of 55.6% and 15,571 units.
Plug-in electric and hybrid vehicles increase their deliveries in the month of February, with growth close to 117%.

Madrid, March 2, 2020 – Enrollment of electrified, hybrid and gas vehicles (passenger cars, ATVs, commercial and industrial vehicles and buses) increased in February by 50.4% compared to the same month last year, with sales in the period of 16,303 units. Taking into account only car sales, these deliveries grew 55.6%, to 15,571 units.

All the categories of vehicles grow except those propelled by gas, which reduce their sales in the month of February by 53.4% ​​compared to the same month of the previous year. Pure electric vehicles and plug-in hybrids achieve a very significant increase in their deliveries, 75.2% for pure electric and 182% in the case of plug-in hybrids, exceeding 2,969 units delivered in the month.

All Autonomous Communities thus increased their purchases of electrified vehicles (with the sole exception of Ceuta and Melilla) and conventional hybrids. It should be noted that most of the Autonomous Communities increase their sales of these types of vehicles with registrations above 100%, with the exception of Catalonia, the Community of Madrid and Navarra, which grow 79.6%, 65.2% and 47.4 %, respectively.

ELECTRIC VEHICLES – Zero Label

Electric vehicle sales grew by 75.2% during February, reaching 1,759 units registered in a month, exceeding one thousand units this month.

PLUG-IN HYBRID VEHICLES – Zero Label

The sales of plug-in hybrid vehicles, in the second month of the year, have reached 1,210 units registered, 182% more than in the same period last year.

GAS VEHICLES – ECO Label

Gas vehicles reached a total of 1,108 units registered in February, 53.4% ​​less than in the same month last year.

HYBRID VEHICLES – ECO Label

Vehicles with non-plug-in hybrid technology reached 12,225 units registered. This figure has meant an increase of 73.9% compared to the same month of 2019. The majority option continues to be hybridization with gasoline, with 9,719 units registered, although during this month diesel hybridization has increased 420%, reaching 2,506 units.

DIESEL AND GASOLINE – Label C

The total market registrations in gasoline (passenger cars, commercial and industrial vehicles, buses and quadricycles) represent 85.5% of the total registrations in the second month of the year. Diesel vehicle registrations represent 38.1% of registrations in the month of February.
