INGOLSTADT (GERMANY), 9 Mar. (EUROPA PRESS) –
The automaker Audi has produced 60 liters of e-gasoline, the largest volume of this type of fuel developed through biomass, a sufficient amount to perform tests on engines, as reported by the company in a statement.
“Like all Audi e-fuels, the new fuel has many advantages, it does not depend on crude oil, it is compatible with the existing infrastructure and offers the prospect of a closed carbon cycle,” said the Head of Development. Sustainable Products of Audi, Reiner Mangold.
Currently, Audi engineers are examining the behavior and emissions of the new renewable fuel in a test engine. The e-gasoline is free of sulfur and benzene and, therefore, is “especially low” in contaminants when burned.
As Audi says, for the company, e-fuels are more than just a research topic in the laboratories. Since 2013, the brand has been offering renewable e-gas in the market.
