- Trust Motors SRL to be appointed as import partner
- More agility and flexibility will foster growth
- Another important step in the implementation of the PACE! plan
Rüsselsheim. Opel has taken a further step in the development of its business strategy in selected European markets with the goal of becoming more agile, flexible and efficient as outlined in the PACE! strategic plan. As part of its measures to foster sustainable growth, Opel is planning to run the business in Romania through the highly recognised and successful Trust Motors SRL as the respective local independent import partner. Trust Motors is already the official importer for Opel’s fellow Groupe PSA brands Peugeot, Citroën and DS Automobiles.
A corresponding contract has now been signed. Upon the closing of the planned transaction, Trust Motors SRL will become the wholesale importer for Romania by acquiring the Opel business in the country. The current Opel employees will be transferred according to the applicable laws (to be communicated separately), latest at the date the transaction is completed.
This transaction and the launch of the new business model is primarily subject to the official merger clearance approval of the respective authorities.
“This decision once again reflects the goals of our PACE! strategic plan and will help make our sales set-up in certain European countries more agile, efficient and therefore competitive,” said Xavier Duchemin, Opel/Vauxhall Managing Director Sales, Aftersales and Marketing. “We are confident that our brand will perform even better in Romania going forward.”
Opel sold around 9,000 vehicles in Romania in 2019 and is targeting profitable growth in the country in the coming years.
