Since they began to roll off production lines, cars have often been touted as a symbol of personal freedom, allowing their drivers and passengers to travel when and where they want, unfettered by the constraints of rail or other forms of transport.
And Slovakia has not one, but two companies leading the field in the production of flying cars.
Most of these are based on the vertical take-off and landing (VTOL) principle, like a helicopter, but a few others are developing cars which take off and land like normal planes using runways.
